Dear Friends,
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend! I just received the photo of us from the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
Math
*Prepare your grid and coordinates. Who can uncover your hidden picture?
*Continue to observe 2-dimensional (i.e. flat) polygons around you. A polygon is a closed figure with 3 or more sides.
*Practice your operations - Multiplying 2-digits by 2-digits and long division. A good way to remember the steps is using the acronym "DMSBD" (divide, multiply, subtract, bring down).
*Try this problem: Sir Godfrey has been collecting gemstones for 3 years. His favorite gems are rubies. Out of his 233 gems, 75 are rubies. How many gems does he have that are not rubies, if there are 3 other types of gemstones?
-What is the problem asking you to find?
-What information is needed to solve the problem?
-How can you show your thinking using illustrations/chart, calculations and an explanation?
*Which is the healthier cereal?
Use the following:
-box design/image/words
-nutritional facts
-ingredient list
*Prepare your 3-course meal! Include all 4 food groups and think about portion size!
*Have you found a healthy recipe to add to our classroom cookbook?
Science
*Explore your world for Structures and Mechanisms. -How are bridges, towers and dams designed?
-What type of forces act upon strong and stable structures?
-What are pulleys and gears?
-When do you use simple tools to make work easier?
Special Events
*Assembly- Tuesday afternoon
*Skating at Ramsden Park - We expect to skate this Thursday afternoon without problems. Thank you to the parent volunteers for making it out on Thursday, even though we didn't get to skate. It was highly unusual that the rinks were unavailable.
This is going to be fun! i like the: "DMSBD" (divide, multiply, subtract, bring down).
ReplyDeleteidea Ms.Perlmutter thanks :)
-I wonder what the assembly is about?
It was little sad that we didn't get to skate last thursday
ReplyDeletegood thing we are going skating this week
have a long weekend everybody!!!
ReplyDeletehave a fun & long weekend!!!!!
ReplyDeletehey its dejaun i dont know where to find the qustions for are home work
ReplyDeletenever mind i found the questions
ReplyDeletethe way dams towers and bridges are made by losts of bricks (other working matereal)so it
ReplyDeletecan be stably to last a very very long time.
the matereal holds the evry thing together so if a dam was hit by water it whould not fall a part.
Sometowers uasally design like a trianglular shape so it can be stabled because if the tower was not stable it would fall down.
ReplyDeleteThe other way that towers are design is rectangular shape because the rectangular shape also makes the tower stable. So the tower that's rectangular and triangular will be stable for a long and long time.
I NEED TO FIND OUT THE DIFFERENCE.So233-75 =158.
ReplyDeleteTHERE ARE 158 REMAINING GEMSTONES.

ReplyDeleteI chose the math problem solving question. The problem is asking me how many gems does Sir Godfrey have other then rubies. The information that I need is Sir Godfrey has 233 gems in total and 75 rubies.
ReplyDelete233-75=158 or 158+75=233
I know Sir Godfrey has 158 gems not including rubies because in the question it said he had 233 gems in total and 75 rubies. So 233-75=158. Another way I could find out the answer is 158+75=233.
I think Honey Bunches Oats is healthier than Cap'n Crunch because Honey Bunches Oats has oats, honey and it's roasted. That's why I think Honey Bunches Oats is healthier than Cap'n Crunch
ReplyDeleteI saw the photo of you guys in the legislative building and it looks like you had fun there! I wish if cold have been there with you guys!! I MISS YOU!!
